Hreko article in Russian edition of Yacht

This year I visited Dusseldorf Boat Show too. At one point I approached the stand of the Russian edition of German “Yacht” magazine and said we have a project that might be interesting for them. Before I even managed to take all the photos out, the editor says: “Oh  …Hreko, we wrote about it.” It was a surprise that someone would have written about Hreko without me knowing about it. I was even more surprised when he told me that a lot of people called them interested in Hreko (where is it being built, etc.) He obviously noticed my surprise and told me. “We Russians do not sail much in open seas along the Russian coast. Our rivers are ten kilometers wide on average, are slow and shallow. In Russia boaters hang around lakes and rivers”

Elektrische & Hybride Marine World Conference 2014

This year I wanted to make a presentation at: Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo 2014, which takes place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 24-26 June 2014, In December 2013 I submit the following proposal: HReko 1ooo, virtually carbon neutral boat.

My Letter:

Dear Mr,

I designed and started building a prototype of a “multi-hybrid” boat. This boat can be interesting as base for development of a 40 foot hybrid cruiser which can fulfil desires of many boaters who like both sailing and tranquillity on sea and have respect for nature. The philosophy behind this project is as follows: if you’re dependent on wind and electrical power your boat should not be heavy. Light sail multihulls are suitable for hybrid or electric propulsion but their disadvantage is large width. The biggest disadvantages of monohulls are their large draft and weight. HReko 1ooo is an attempt to have a monohull that is light, has small draft but sufficient stability. This can be achieved with use of floats (as with multihulls) in combination with a simple and intelligent water ballast system. The ingenuity lies in the fact that floats (effectively bilge keels) and ballast tanks have interchangeable function as needed. This modification and progression of the design can result in entirely new and improved type of vessel, suitable for electric propulsion.

And this was the answer:

Dear Mr Perkovic,

Thank you for submitting a proposal for the Electric and Hybrid Marine World Conference.  We have now been able to assess all the proposals submitted and make some decisions concerning the sessions and space available.  In so doing we have had to make some difficult choices not to include some excellent proposals where space and the focus of the sessions would not allow.  I am sorry to say that your proposal was one that we were just unable to include in this year’s program.  I must reiterate that this is most certainly not a reflection on the merit of the proposal, simply a result of the process of creating sessions and the available space.  If you have any questions concerning this please let me know, otherwise I hope that you will submit a proposal for the conference in 2015.
